Alt text: A social media post by hjmanske, reading as follows (with errors corrected):
Chicago PD should be instructed to pull over every vehicle carrying National Guardsmen, or ICE, or HSI into town. Ask for photo ID from each, ask that they pull down masks (when necessary) to verify an ID match. After each person hands over ID, walk back to their radio, and ask for a background check. One at a time. When complete, ask if there are weapons in the vehicle.

If so, check that the person has a permit. Do this every day that Trump tries to send military/paramilitary into the city.

That little dot is WISPIT 2b, a newborn exoplanet. About 5 times the mass of Jupiter, the planet is eating its way through its dusty cradle as it orbits the host star, a younger version of our Sun 🌞

Cats in Japanese Folklore and Culture

Entire books could be, and have been, written about cats in Japanese culture and folklore. Cats in Japan are both revered and feared with the spectrum ranging from kawaii (cute) cat characters, through to terrifying yokai cats who eat humans alive. Because the topic is so vast, this post will just scratch the surface but will include:

~ the legend of the maneki neko

~ an introduction to yokai cats

~ some folktales about cats

~ a recommendation for books and a film

~ a collection of Japanese woodblock art featuring cats.

I hope you enjoy it!
