It's 2 C (36 F) here and raining. Ugly is right.
eggnog mocha.
bailey's irish cream

when i was younger, baklava and börek were common in my family's meals
4C here and gloomy. Some hot chocolate might be nice.

I have no clue what people do for Xmas.

For me... LATKES (aka potato pancakes)
Is there any food or special drink you associate with Christmas or this season, and you are looking forward to?
bûche de Noel, also known as Yule Log. It was Barbara's absolute favorite thing to make for Yule. And she was so talented at decorating it.

I haven't had one since she last made one. Not planning on it this year either.
It's 20C this morning and set to be 40C today. Iced chai it is! We went to a restaurant for Thanksgiving. So, I missed a number of those traditional foods. A day ago I made cornbread---yum. I am set to make pumpkin pie soon. Sadly, not enough time for gingerbread this year or mini pecan tarts. We will be having turkey bonbons for Christmas dinner.

turkey bonbon
Turkey...bonbons?!

I might make my mother-in-loves Coquito recipe..with enough left over to share with others..
If it tastes good and doesn't make me sick I'm down to eat it whatever the season.

This evening I'm all hot in the biscuit to make some noise with my git-tars. No AI, no drum machines, just me having fun making noise.

Learned about the Stetsbar tremelo which would totally rock on a steampunk themed guitar:

Overcast and 70F (21C) here. Going to be 80F at the end of the week. Going to be low 70s for Xmas and we might get a dash of rain.
Fruitcake ( no alcohol, thanks ). Food.Of.The.Gods.
@Janet Logan 🏳️‍⚧️ A local bakery ( sadly closed this year ) made a small bûche de Noël that was great. I guess I need to seek out another , single serving sized one around here.
I find that the company rather than the food makes the gathering. Good food never hurts though.
This is my relationship with fruitcake:

yucky fruitcake

It makes a good doorstop! XD
Well, I may have had to assemble an Xmas tree, but I have never, ever fruitcaked. And never will.
@Mark Wollschlager

I was honestly amazed at how easy they are to make. The decoration is the hard part. The recipe is very simple. It's basically a chocolate jelly roll with flavored whipped cream.

This seems to be a decent recipe. And you definitely don't need the alcohol mentioned.
@Muse fruitcakes remind me of maple nut cakes that come in MRE packages.
or vice versa.
@Muse
I miss fruitcake. My aunt used to make really good ones. I had hoped to get her recipe when she passed, but alas. I would have had to alter it, obvs. Someday I'll get around to trying that gluten-free recipe I got on here. Too many other things need to happen before I can start fiddling with a recipe.

I also like eggnog. It's a great excuse to use nutmeg 😁 A local dairy in MD/PA made the best eggnog ever... then they discovered stock manipulation and that was the end of that.

The green grocer here sells eggnog year-round.
29F here at present.
@Lisa Stranger Was that Trickling Spring?

Eggnog is one of those things they should sell in 'double shot' sized containers. Just enough for the whole year in a small juice glass.
Dark fruit cake - made. Butter tarts - made. Sausage rolls - made. Eggnog in the list. And we have our champagne and OJ ready. I made small batches but it's still so much yum😄
25 C Here and cloudy. A typical day this time of year.
<sees Cass' goodie list—calculates time required to get to Alberta>

@Mark Wollschlager yep that's them! They actually ruined the eggnog before they went under. The last time we got it, it was runny and tasteless.
There's enough to share @Lisa Stranger … except the sausage rolls 😄
I like boozy fruitcake. With whipped cream or butter frosting on top and chocolate drizzle.

You're welcome. I use the sweet mini tart shells you get in the fridge section because I'm lazy😄
